As part of the Plant Lipids CSR initiative, Plant Lipids supported Government Higher Primary School, Kelasuru (Gundlupet, Karnataka) to create a safer, cleaner, and more engaging learning environment for students.
Major infrastructure development works have been successfully completed across the campus. These include vitrified tile flooring in classrooms, the veranda, and the kitchen; construction of a new toilet block for boys; fencing and levelling of the playground; and installation of new play equipment such as a slide, double swing, monkey bar, and see-saws. To support classroom learning, new furniture was provided, including bench-and-desk combinations, classroom tables, and a computer table. A covered stage was also constructed to facilitate assemblies and cultural activities.
Significant improvements were made to water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities. An RO water system was installed to provide safe drinking water for students and kitchen use, along with new plumbing works that included an overhead water tank and pump. A new handwash area was created, and existing handwash facilities were upgraded. Additionally, abandoned old toilets were demolished, the site was cleared, and the compound wall was vertically extended on the southern side to enhance campus safety. The entire school building and compound wall were freshly painted, giving the campus a clean and welcoming appearance.
Further value-addition works are currently in progress, including improvements to the dining and handwash areas, kitchen upgrades with a serving counter, and construction of safety enclosures for the water sump and LPG cooking gas storage areas.
Beyond physical infrastructure, the Plant Lipids CSR project also focuses on educational development. The initiative aims to strengthen foundational literacy skills among students of Grades I to III and build IT competence among teachers through a hybrid model of onsite and online learning. The program aligns with the school’s Nali Kali (joyful learning) approach and supports MBT’s vision of fostering sustainable, skill-based learning in government schools. Through this integrated approach, Plant Lipids continues to contribute meaningfully to improved educational outcomes and community development.
