Plant Lipids inaugurated its new spray drying facility on Monday, November 3rd – a significant milestone in our journey of innovation and growth. The event began with a prayer and blessings and was presided over by Chairman C.J. George, Managing Director John Nechupadom, Directors Mariam George and Tarun Thomas, GroupCEO Manoj Marar, along with other senior leaders whose shared vision has brought this facility to life.

The new spray drying unit enhances our capabilities in transforming liquid extracts into high-quality, shelf-stable powders. This gentle drying process preserves the natural essence of ingredients – from spices to essential oils – while improving flavor, aroma, and longevity. With precise control and a range of operational capacities, the facility ensures consistent, high-quality powders suitable for diverse applications across the food and fragrance industries.

Inside the Facility

Designed for efficiency, safety, and versatility, the facility features:

  • Spray drying units with water evaporation capacities of 50 L, 100 L, and 150 L
  • A fluid bed processor with top spray for agglomeration, enabling improved particle size based on application requirements
  • Powder blending facilities with 500 kg and 1000 kg capacities for development and semi-commercial production
  • A basket extruder and vacuum tray dryer to support wet granulation needs

Spectra – Our Natural Colors

The facility also houses dedicated R&D, Application, and QC laboratories for Spectra – our range of natural colors – along with a pilot blending facility that strengthens our innovation pipeline and reinforces stringent quality control.

This new spray drying facility reflects Plant Lipids’ commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth. It enhances our ability to serve customers more effectively while expanding our capabilities in the rapidly evolving ingredients and natural products sector.
