The spirit of camaraderie and competition came alive during the recent Onam celebrations held on August 25th, 2023, at our esteemed organization. The day was marked by a series of events that not only showcased our unity but also celebrated the remarkable achievements of our employees.
The festivities began with an eagerly awaited Tug of War competition held from August 21st to 24th. The teams were fiercely competitive, each striving to be the best. The peak of excitement arrived on the final day, August 24th, when the White Tuskers Team emerged as winners, etching their name in our company’s history.
On August 25th, our grand Onam celebration took centre stage, a day that celebrated tradition, unity, and vibrant colours that defines our organization. The morning began with the captivating Flower Carpet Competition (traditionally called Onapookalam or Athapookalam), where our creative teams transformed flowers into breath-taking works of art from 8 am to 11 am, creating a visual delight for everyone. By 11 am, the completed flower carpets were being reviewed by our top management team. The teams were excited, cheering (Aarppuvili) and inviting Mahabali to the festival, and they also took group photos with their beautiful creations.
As 11:30 am approached, excitement filled the air. Our cultural events kicked off with the resonating beats of the traditional drum, chendamelam, setting the rhythm for the day. A captivating scene unfolded as one of our employees, wearing the attire of the benevolent Mahabali, brought ancient folklore to life, evoking a sense of cultural pride and nostalgia.
Our esteemed CEO’s heartfelt Onam message emphasized unity, dedication, and shared values. The Chairman’s Onam wishes echoed the essence of the occasion – prosperity, harmony, and joy. As the top management lit the ceremonial lamp, an infectious energy enveloped the surroundings, marking the beginning of a day filled with tradition and celebration.
The stage transformed into a showcase of performances that celebrated our rich culture and talents. The air was filled with the harmonious melodies of group songs, and mesmerizing group dances portrayed stories of unity and joy. Individual performances in both song and dance offered a glimpse into the diverse talents that make our organization extraordinary.
The graceful Thiruvathira dance, a symbolic of Kerala’s culture, graced the stage, its detailed movements crafting a picture of tradition and grace.
Amidst the festivities, a moment of recognition and pride arrived as we honoured winners in various categories. The Best Kaizen Award for 2022 acknowledged employees’ dedication to excellence. The Special Jury Award for Kaizen celebrated innovation and commitment to improvement. The Tug of War Winners Award and the Kulam Kara Winners Award highlighted the spirit of teamwork and determination that define our company culture.
A truly inspiring moment showcased our commitment to nurturing talent as we celebrated the selection of Mr. Sanin Subhash, the son of our employee Ms. Valsa Subhash from the Plant Lipids Condiments Division, to the Kerala Blasters Team as a goalkeeper. This achievement not only brought honor to our organization but also underscored our dedication to supporting talent across all fields.
The celebrations reached their peak with the Onam Sadhya – a delicious feast that tempted taste buds and evoked smiles. This feast was not just for the stomach but also for the soul, bringing us closer together and united as we enjoyed the different flavours.
As the day came to an end, the sounds of laughter, applause, and touching performances stayed with us, leaving a strong impression on our hearts and minds. The Onam 2023 celebrations meant more than just an occasion; they showcased our common beliefs, group accomplishments, and the diverse talents that truly set our organization exceptional.
