Rainforest alliance Committee

Rainforest Alliance

The Rainforest Alliance was founded in 1986 by Daniel Katz, a New York-based environmentalist. The organization grew out of a project called the “Rainforest Alliance Network,” which was launched by Katz and a group of colleagues to promote conservation and sustainable development in Latin America.

In the early years, the Rainforest Alliance focused primarily on working with small farmers in Central and South America, helping them to adopt more sustainable practices and to access markets for their products. The organization also worked to promote conservation and sustainable development in the region by building alliances with local communities, NGOs, and government agencies.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Rainforest Alliance expanded its focus to include other regions and sectors, including forestry, tourism, and cocoa. The organization also began to develop certification standards for sustainable practices and started to certify farms and forests that met those standards.

The Rainforest Alliance’s certification program became widely recognized as a credible and rigorous standard for sustainable agriculture, forestry and tourism. The organization’s certification seal, the green frog, has become a recognizable symbol of sustainability. Today, the Rainforest Alliance works in more than 80 countries and has certified over 200 million acres of forests and more than 200,000 farms around the world. The organization continues to work to conserve biodiversity, promote sustainable livelihoods, and reduce the impact of human activities on the environment.

In Specialty Naturals, the training of Rainforest Alliance’s has been successfully conducted on 19th January,2023 with an initial briefing by Ms. Doniya about what is RA and how its functions. Later, Mr. Babu Sebastian added history, importance of RA certification, Risk Assessment, and How it works.
It was a very useful session for everyone present and we hope that everyone found it beneficial to their understanding of Rainforest Alliance Certification. We appreciate Ms. Doniya and Mr. Babu Sebastian for their informative presentations as well as all those who attended the training session for their enthusiasm and participation.
