In recognition of World Food Safety Day 2024, we held a dedicated Food Safety Week from June 3rd to June 7th. This initiative aimed to foster a culture of awareness and education on food safety practices within our company.
The week featured several engaging activities. In the Poster Design Competition, employees showcased their creativity by designing visually appealing posters promoting key food safety messages. Manu Shankar (Aromatics), Ann Merin (PLK), and Linta Sunil (PLK) were recognized for their winning entries.
Teams also participated in the Food Safety Video Competition, creating informative and engaging videos on important topics like hand hygiene, food storage, and preventing cross-contamination. The winning videos, chosen by a panel of judges, was available for viewing in the badminton court. The winners were: First place Aromatics team, followed by Speciality Naturals team and PLK team.
From June 4th to June 6th, we held a thrilling Food Safety Quiz on the Kahoot platform. Teams from various divisions competed, with each team consisting of 2 to 4 participants answering 25 questions per session. The Food Safety Quiz saw daily champions: PLK on June 4th, Tropical Flavours on 5th, and Condiments on 6th. The daily winners competed in a final round on June 7th, with Tropical Flavours winning! The winners—PLK, Tropical Flavours, and Condiments—faced off in the finals on June 7th. After a close match, Tropical Flavours took first place, followed by PLK and Condiments.
Each division hosted an Exhibition on Food Safety, showcasing best practices in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and raw material, finished good, and dispatch storage management. These displays also emphasized the importance of personal hygiene, pest management, and company policies. The judges were particularly impressed by the dedication and creativity displayed by all employees, especially the winning teams: First place went to PLK, followed by Speciality Naturals and Tropical Flavours.
We were delighted to welcome Mr. A.G. Mathews, a close friend of our Chairman, Mr. CJ George, as our esteemed guest speaker for Food Safety Week. Their longstanding friendship, forged during the early years of Plant Lipids, was a heartwarming reminder of the strong bonds that have shaped our company’s success. Mr. Mathews, a key figure in our company’s formative years, contributed a remarkable 23 years of guidance and expertise that continue to shape Plant Lipids today. This was followed by a prize distribution ceremony, acknowledging the outstanding achievements of individuals and teams across the various competitions. We are proud to announce the overall champions of Food Safety Week 2024: The Team PLK! Congratulations to all winners and participants for their commitment to food safety excellence.
Food Safety Week was a great success, highlighting our strong commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety. The activities provided valuable learning opportunities and fostered teamwork and collective responsibility in ensuring the safety and quality of our products.
