The Story:

Once upon a time, there was a wise old Monk lived, he told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My child, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a moment and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”

The old Monk smiled and simply replied, “The one you feed.”

This story illustrates the idea that we all have both positive and negative qualities within us and that the one we choose to nurture and give attention to will ultimately shape our character and determine our actions. It’s a reminder that we have the power to choose our thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors and that we have to be conscious and intentional in choosing the good over the evil.
